5. Programming contest lunch buffet on S

The programming contest spans the noon hour so food is made available to students in the area of the contest. Most hosts set up an informal buffet in a room or a hallway. The menu is typically sandwiches, chips, soft drinks, water, cookies, and other “junk” foods. Since the students must leave their computer to eat, the food must be available for an extended period, which raises concerns about keeping meats and condiments refrigerated.

Deadline: 7 days before the conference.
Suggested starting date: 180 days before the conference.

We did boxed lunches for the programming contest. Chose 2-3 sandwich options with one being vegetarian. The boxes included chips and brownie/cookie. We provided 2 liter softdrinks also. (Furman/2011)
